DC Drives Replacement, Head Box Modifications, and Vacuum Pumps Installation

Project Description

This project involved major critical work during April 2010 shutdown. The work was done in extremely tight working conditions.

Service Provided

  • Critical five day shutdown to replace 13 DC motor drives on back side of paper machine including 2 new gear boxes, 2 universal drives, and 2 new base plates. Motors ranged in size from 1000 hp to 125hp.
  • Optical alignment of 30 motors
  • Removal and installation of two new vacuum pumps and realignment of train
  • Miscellaneous piping relocations for installation of new motor drives
  • Removal and replacement of front beam on secondary head box
  • Stainless steel welding repairs and plate installation on primary head box
